What View39 tests

One blood sample screens for specific IgE antibodies to 39 common allergens, including pollens, mites, house dust, animals, molds, insects and foods.

How it is used

We first review when and where symptoms occur and whether they relate to food or environmental exposure. View39 is a screening test; a targeted specific-IgE test may be more appropriate when the suspected allergen is already clear.

A positive result is not a diagnosis

Specific IgE may be detected even when exposure causes no symptoms. Results must be interpreted together with the clinical history. Do not remove foods from your diet based only on this result.

Emergency symptoms

Breathing difficulty, throat tightness, faintness or rapidly developing widespread hives may indicate anaphylaxis. Call 119 rather than waiting for a routine testing appointment.
